January 27, 1968: "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay" is released six weeks after Otis Redding dies in a plane crash.
January 28, 1978: A fan requests that Ted Nugent autograph his arm with a bowie knife. Nugent complies.
January 29, 1952: Tommy Ramone is born.
January 30, 1969: The Beatles make their last-ever public appearance as a group, performing on the roof of Apple Studios in London. The show is stopped when police arrive after neighbors complain about the noise.
January 31, 1956: John Lydon AKA Johnny Rotten is born.
January 31, 1969: Bobby Darin walks off the set of The Jackie Gleason Show when he was not allowed to sing "Long Line Rider."
February 1, 1964: Indiana Governor declares the song "Louie Louie" by the Kingsmen pornographic and lobbies to have the record banned. Although stations claim it's impossible to accurately figure out the lyrics from "the unintelligible rendition as performed by the Kingsmen," Governor Welsh claims his "ears tingle" when he hears the song.
February 2, 1974: Keith Emerson injures his hands when a rigged piano prematurely explodes during a concert in San Francisco. He suffers various cuts and a broken fingernail.
February 2, 1979: 21 year old Ex-Sex Pistol bass player Sid Vicious dies of a heroin overdose in the New York City apartment of his girlfriend, Michelle Robinson. The death is ruled an accident.
